Diner Days gone by

Don't your ears perk up when you hear about a great diner, especially if it's near by.  What if it was a real diner car in the middle of a museum?  To me that's a "must do".  All these were taken at the Henry Ford in Dearborn, MI.  And because you were wondering; stew, chocolate frappe, apple pie.  The open turkey sandwich looked like it was made for sharing, fyi.

Frankie

There's something familiar to any laundromat.  There's always two types of machines... one to get things wet the other to get things dry.  Enter Frankie to light up this dingy, old and with barely half its machines working laundromat.

Niagara in Winter

I grew up in the Niagara Region.  I don't remember too many years when the falls iced up so heavily in December.  This year's cold was the ticket to great scenes.  I saw lots of great images posted online and had to give it a try myself.  The weather was -16C, windy and misty.  The mist bit my cheekbones then froze to my beard.  I was there Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning,    On my way home, the sun made me feel actually warm.  Walking across the ice, shooting the ship, was weird. The ice was clear but very thick.  Even so, I was glad to get back on land.

Iceland V

Back closer to the capital the tourists become plentiful again.  But that's reasonable.  The scenery along the Golden Circle was amazing.

Iceland IV

So the first night we see the northern lights was fantastic.  I would have been content if that was the end of it.

Iceland III

Over the next few days were traded rain for snow and ice.  No problem as we only had to drive through mountain passes.  But still, the scenery was other worldly.

Iceland II

Now don't get me wrong. I did like Iceland but it did challenge us.  The first few days the cold bit through our coats.  The rain and mist kept trying to keep us down.  The freezing rain did cause us to not photograph two key sites but then...
