Spring Migration-Rondeau and Point Pelee

With such a late spring, compound that with a early visit to Rondeau Provincial Park and Point Pelee National Park, the variety of birds we saw was much lower than in previous years. However, we did get to see the birds fairly clearly as the leaves on the trees were barely out of bud.

Tundra Swan Spring Migration

Every March, thousands of tundra swans on their way to the high Arctic, stop to visit in Aylmer, ON. Their stay is usually short but that (like tax season) indicates summer should be coming along soon.

Parc Omega-Montebello Quebec

The last weekend of January 2011, Nancy & I spent a long weekend travelling to & from Montebello, QC. We were part of a bus tour. For two of the days, we travelled around in a school bus looking out onto snow covered trees and hills. There were a variety of deer, caribou, wild boar and bison. But the 36 of us were there to photograph Arctic and Timber wolves. The best show was with the Timber wolves who were "picking on" one lone female. Her snarling and gnashing of teeth did not scare off the pack. The white Arctic wolves did not disappoint either.

Now before you get too worried, the wolves and coyotes were in enclosures that ensured their safety as well as the safety of the other park animals.

Port Bruce

It felt like I was visiting the Arctic.  Windswept ice.  Beautiful clear sky.  Every once in a while you could hear the ice shift.
